What's in the Stars? Mars and Pluto in conflict |

The month of March 2008 will weather the storms of Transiting Pluto in Capricorn and Transiting Mars in Cancer in opposition from March 1 - March 20 - with the strongest emphasis on March 6-7th when both planets will be 0 degrees in each sign. Below is the birth chart of the United States of America. Even though each of us individually will be experiencing this aspect, our country will also be experiencing this aspect as well. It goes without saying that the months ahead loom exceedingly important for all of us. Whether we are involved in the depressed real estate market in some way, worried about job loss, concerned about health issues or relationship issues top our personal list or becoming actively involved in this historic election -- we all are holding our breaths and watching and waiting. We are also watching what is taking place on our nation's canvas. Our personal life issues seem interwoven with that of the country in many ways right now.

If you are a long time reader of this column, you already know that things like oppositions and squares challenge us. They usually are quite an uncomfortable experience, although hopefully by the time we've gone through that experience we've grown in wisdom.
We spoke last month about the entrance of Pluto into Capricorn; that this planet hasn't been in that place in the sky since the Revolutionary War. Wherever Pluto is transiting or aspecting, that area gets hypercharged in our awareness. The fact that Pluto has now entered our country's 2nd house of income coinciding with a very troubled economy is not an accident. The rising gas prices, the unfair taxation, the housing market that is out of control, the dropping value of the US dollar, the increased job losses to overseas markets - all that and more.
Now, I am not writing this column to depress but rather to give a ray of hope. Considering that Pluto is now in a place of
opposition to Mars in Cancer, I would hope that is signage to ground being broken in the health care crisis, that we can henceforth Watch those first 20 days of March for some kind of breakthrough. Many of us are not at all happy with the cost of health care, prescriptions, or co pays. This opposition is almost like a big ice scraper in the sky, getting under that particular wedge of ice, and beginning to whittle it down, so the wedge of ice (the problem) can eventually just fall away. Please take that same analogy in conjunction with your personal issues as well. Rarely does an ice scraper clear a windshield in the first scrape - but you know, and believe, that eventually with enough pressure, it will indeed clear. This opposition is just such a pressure.
Below is a chart of the United States of America, showing the square aspect of Pluto and Mars. We will be discussing more on this in future columns of this yet another such pressure, that of a square aspect that will be going on quite some time to come.
