T
he month of May 2008 is all about retrogrades! First, we have Saturn in Virgo, which was retrograde and now is going direct in Virgo on May 3rd. Then we have Jupiter going retrograde in Capricorn on May 10, Mercury going retrograde in Gemini on May 27, Neptune going retrograde in Aquarius on May 26, and Pluto retrograde in Capricorn all month long! WOW! If you recall, any retrograde is all about redoing -- reassessing, reliving, revitalizing. Retrogrades are all those wonderful RE words, that gives you a chance at an astrological do-over! I hope you have gotten your simple horoscope chart done on one of those free sites on the Internet, to see how these retrogrades are going to affect you personally. Here is another one of those sites: www.astro.com Make sure you print out your chart, so you can review it as you read along this column. Jupiter in Capricorn generally means more responsibility, sometimes with an added bonus of better/increased status. Retrograde motion kicks in a desire to not follow the obvious path but taking a chance on a situation that other's have deemed a lost cause. (Look on your natal chart to see what house Capricorn is) Saturn is only retrograde for the first three days in Virgo before popping back direct again; however we all should be glad perhaps that Saturn has resumed it's direct motion. When it is retrograde, there seems to be a lot of inner doubts about projects, and perhaps not enough steam in the engine to make it work. When Saturn returns to direct motion, our thinking should be much clearer and more positive. (Look on your natal chart to see what house Virgo is) Neptune in Aquarius in retrograde motion may tend to influence a person to say that they were more than they were; perhaps even brag about things they had never done. Neptune is a bit of a dreamer planet anyway, and in Aquarius heads are often in the clouds with lofty ideas. The retrograde motion, should one be aware and watchful of themselves, may teach valuable lessons about just being oneself, and not be so worried about other's opinions. (Look on your natal chart to see what house Aquarius is) The Pluto retrograde takes all that intensity and turns it inward, to bring about a needed retrospection. This is a good thing as it allows someone to step back from themselves and reevaluate where they are going and how they are getting there. This internal inventory taking is beneficial not only for the mind but for the body as well. This is an excellent time to encourage both a spiritual and a physical body cleansing. Pluto takes all that intensity and turns it inward, in the house in which it currently falls during this transit. (*Look on your natal chart to see where Capricorn is)
Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini May 26. You've heard me talk about Mercury retrogrades many times before. (Check to see what house Gemini is in your natal chart.) A lot of energy will be falling into Gemini towards the end of the month, with the Sun (entering Gemini on 5/21), Mercury (entering Gemini on 5/25) and Venus (entering Gemini on 5/26) all posited there. Check your natal chart to see what house Gemini falls in, because this is where the emphasis of your communications will be, love and otherwise, from the end of May to the end of June 2008. **Always check your natal chart to see if any transiting retrograde planet is crossing a natal planetary position. Any retrograde affects will be more pronounced, and pulling in that energy of the natal planet as well. ***An Important Note: I kept getting a psychic message the entire time I was writing this column, and that is about a minor grand trine. This is a trine between two planets with a third planet exactly half way in between. This occurs the first day of May. This is a trine between Uranus in Pisces at 22', Mars in Cancer at 25' and Mercury in Taurus at 27'. This is generally interpreted as being a beneficial opportunity time if the native is open and cooperative. I got a strong 'message' to tell you all about this aspect.
As usual, take what you need and leave the rest.
