So, today I will look at the chart of the United States of America, and see how that opposition looks for us as a country. Here is a link to see that chart:  http://www.astrology.co.uk/USA.htm

Saturn will be in 18' Virgo in the US tenth house of standing in the world and reputation, in opposition to Uranus 18' in Pisces, in the US fourth house of home and foundation.

In essence then, our world's reputation is at odds with our foundation.  It would appear so, as our foundation, as written over 200 years ago in our Constitution, was a beam of light for all to behold.  However, our country's standing in the world has dropped considerably.

So, Saturn is saying that we must learn our lessons, well and completely, to return to that world reputation that we all enjoyed before the Iraq war.  Seven years ago in October 2001, Saturn was in 14' Gemini, which at that time was trine the natal Saturn in Libra 15', and in the 7th house of partnerships in the US chart.  We had the cooperation and respect of the world.  Most of the  world grieved with us in our losses at that point in time.

Now, seven years later, we move into this difficult opposition with Uranus.  Saturn will not return to it's natal position of 15' Libra until December 2010 and we will be at that time experiencing the Saturn return of that time.  However, this opposition with Uranus will ease up by November of 2009.

If you recall, I explained last month that the opposition leaves an open door, it is not a stand off. The word that is written on that open door is compromise.  One such explanation is that we need to change the way we have done things, we need to return to that place of respect seven years ago.  There has to be a compromise here or there will continue to be stress, caused in part by the opposition, for twelve more months!

Let's look at the Sabian symbols for this opposition.

18' Virgo (Saturn) The ability to contact deeper recesses of the unconscious psyche and sensitiveness to psychic intimations and omens.

18' Pisces (Uranus) The collective appeal of a well-staged and exciting display of skill and/or oratory.

Okay, so who do we know that is one of the best orator's of our time to come down the political pike? And who is the one that works to inspire hope within his listeners?

On the other hand we know there is some crazy stuff out there spinning around on the Internet, and on the TV ads that are all designed to throw the public into a place of fear.

I truly wish I could say Candidate X was going to win this race and you can take that to the bank  (or the mattress, as the case may be.)  However, this very powerful opposition just throws everything you feel you know right out the window.  I see McCain as standing in the place of Saturn - the old school, the old ways, and I see Obama standing in the Uranus position (the upstart newcomer determined to shake things up and make it better.)  Both men as well as planets are extremely powerful.

So, I propose this. Let's all envision the undisputed winner instilling a happiness and peace and prosperity in this country from election day to the Inauguration day and into the next four years.
